Our little Mei Mei

This was how I told the world of baby no 2, couple of months back :

Baby no 2 update - just completed detailed scan today at 20 weeks (that's 4.5 months people! and yes I am pregnant NOT FAT!) - results are all good and it's a little mei mei for sophie..woohoo! jin's estactic at the $$ we will be saving from clothes and toys ;)

Today, at 33 weeks, the little one is moving a LOT (so much more than Bean). At the last scan at Week 31, she was 1.7kgs - doc says all is good.

Pregnancy wise, this has been great. will not say more just in case I jinx it but have to admit that I have been really really blessed!

Her room and things are about 60% there. we still need to put in the wall paper and wash all the toys and clothes. but i have got all the essentials - diapers, bottles, diaper rash creams (5 different brands), pacifier (is 1 enuff?), a bunny soft toy..hmm, i think i need to stock up on some milk powder and wet wipes!

bean knows baby is in mummy's tummy. some days she sayangs my tummy..other days she yells and says :mei mei wake up, mei mei come out! LOL

until the next mei mei update, here's a preggy me at 7 mths visiting Eastern Europe.

Drama Minggu Ini..

What a crazee week it has been..michiko decided to leave without so much as a 24 hour notice leaving us pretty much stranded with house move and no one to watch sophie. thankfully, boss allowed me to take all afternoons off on urgent leave for 2 whole weeks till in laws come to the rescue and giving us time to find a new helper.

I have to say, it's been a while since i get to be bean's sole caregiver. i pick her up from school (which she lurves! whole day she sings songs from school - songs i have never heard of), we come back and usually have a small snack (fishballs from old chang kee) and then it's a quick clean up and off to her afternoon nap.

once she wakes, it's play play play all the way. sometimes we read books, have a colouring session or like today, since we were stuck in one room as the decking guys were making a mess out at the living room, she had a looong bubble bath.

some highlights of the week :

pain pain na na

on friday, we were so caught up with the move that we kinda forgot it was dinner time till bean went, "pain pain" and pointed at her tummy. I looked at jin and said, "oh no, i think she has gastric", we dropped everything and walked out for food (yes, it's nice to be able to walk 3 minutes and reach a local hdb coffeeshop)

even though she was hungry, she kept whinning "pain pain, pain pain" and after a while, "pain pain na na". "Na na?" - no idea what that meant! then i thought a bit and said to bean "i think you need to poo poo cos this morning you did not poo". so we headed back and sat her on the potty and she says "sophie no poo poo, pee pee only" and I said "ok" and wiped her pee off and the second i removed my hand, PLOP PLOP, her poo came out and nearly landed on me hand!

after she pooed, she said "sophie no more pain pain" and laughed. poor child.

locked in

even though i am on leave every afternoon, my big boss does not know and so we were having a concall while bean was taking her nap. halfway through the call, i heard her knocking on her door which meant she woke up. since i was on the call, i decided to keep her waiting.,..and the minute the call ended, i rushed to her door, calling her name.

turned the door knob and whoa, door was locked. silly bean played with lock from inside and locked herself in!! and jin took all the keys to office (no idea why).

so poor child starts wailing from inside "i want mummyyy, i want mummyyy" and i call jin and he was thankfully on his way somewhere and could detour to pass us the key. meanwhile, i pacified her by sneaking cookies under the door :P

at one point, i told her to ask bunny to help her open the door and she said OK. next thing i heard was her telling bunny in a serious tone "bunny open door..bunny, do properly..why cannot?" lol.

what a week indeed! but tired as I may be, i am loving every minute with bean..she is soo cheeky and funny.,and what energy! i refer to her as my little energy ball. :)

This Sophie ahhh

Bean is a whole lot more communicative these days...her conversations with me are getting longer and with a lot more substance. Today's conversation went like this :

Bean : Che che bella went to school in small bus
Me : next time when sophie is bigger, you get to sit small bus to school too
Bean with a thinking look says to me : Sophie sit big bus to school

lol.

and just yesterday she said : sophie no eat raisin
Me : why sophie no eat raisin
Bean : I told you already, Sophie coughing
:P

and finally, when she accidently does something like dropping her spoon or not picking up her toys, she will exclaim loudly :"this Sophie ahhhh"

hehehe

Bean turns TWO

We actually had a pre-bday celebration in KL last weekend (but photographer has not sent us any pix!) but we wanted to do something small for her on the actual birthdate . So today, we decided to buy a cake for her to celebrate with her friends at school.

Here are some shots before bean left for school..
Bean with her "happy face" pose
I love you lady bug ;)
What are YOU looking at?

And here she is with her friends and 2 teachers. I am glad we spent a bit more getting the 3D ladybug cake and also had the celebration at school cos bean really seemed to like the cute cake and pure joy was on her face when her friends sang happy bday to her in - both the english and chinese versions. Each time before the song ended, she looked over to me and asked if she could blow the candle. lol.
Why are we waiting? why are we waiting?
Bean's showing that she is 2
HaPpY
Can I blow the candle now mummy?
we believe that the Little fella on our left blew out bean's candle!!
With Liang Lao Shi and Ms Jessie

Our dear sweetheart ate wayy too much cake and all that came out after she drank her afternoon milk. she looked at the mess and asked us "what happened?". :)

Yes my dear daughter - eating too much cake will make you sick!

23 months old bean

I cant believe bean will turn 2 in exactly a month's time..where did the days go? I still call her my sweet baby - I guess that is what she will always be to me :)

she never fails to amaze us on a daily basis. yesterday she was picking up her books and one of my books got mixed up in her pile. she looked at it and turned to me and said :somebody's one, somebody's book - now I seriously don't ever remember teaching her that! could it be from school?

school - i know she likes going cos there are days she tells me :sophie wants to go school . and sometimes she even pulls at my hand and says :lets go! but even on these days, the minute we drop her off, she will do the 1 minute of drama tears. but the minute we are out of sight, she behaves and starts listening to her ms jessie.

potty training - we like to think she's fully trained in the poo poo department and getting there on the pee pee department. she is out of diapers throughout the day when she's awake (yes even at school!) but we put her on diapers during nap and sleep time. maybe try to wean her off diapers for good when she turns 2 but for now, very happy with the progress of saving gaya.

tantrums aka the terrible two's? - at least once or twice a day, bean will try to throw a tantrum. usually bcos she does not get what she wants..i deal with it by telling her to go stand in the corner which she obediently goes for like 10 seconds before running back to me and saying : All Done! :P

Because of school, a slight change in her daily routine. instead of the previous 1 hour naps and bedtime by 8pm sharp, she now takes 2-2.5 hours of nap after school which pushes her bed time to closer to 9pm. bedtime routine starts at 8pm with story books, followed by songs and then trying to get her to cooperate to get into bed usually takes the remaining 15 minutes :p

Here's what the Bean has been up to the past few months...
pretending to know how to order her own kaya toast
Puzzles , puzzles, Bean LOVES doing puzzles.

Weekend getaway to Ho Chi Minh City

A typical traffic scene in Ho Chi Minh City

With in laws watching the bean, jin and i took off to a 4 day trip to HCMC. Jin got a great hotel deal for us to stay at the new Intercontinental hotel which came with free internet and a large LCD TV - we had a great time downloading LOST and 24 and watching many hours of it when the afternoon heat made it too hot to be outdoors.

There's really not that much to do in HCMC - we spent a morning traveling in style to see the CuChi tunnels. Traveling in style meant we got a speedboat to take us there and back cutting the 4 hour road journey time to just 2 hours via river.

Don't play play.. one should def watch where they are going here

Jin is just not a vietnamese - he can't fit into the hole soldiers used to hide in as they wait for their enemies

Hanging out with the local soldiers
After seeing the main attraction this city had to offer, the rest of the days were spent just walking the lanes , eating yummy vietnamese pho and spa-ing. we visited many art galleries in hope of finding a nice piece for the living room but the one we both loved was priced wayy out of our budget..sigh.

One of our fav eating spots - the food stalls inside Ben Tanh Market

Pho glorious Pho

Good salads too. we ate at this place twice!
